First Draw

Metals like lead and copper leach into the first glass of water you drink from your tap in the morning. After a period of roughly several hours or more of inactivity from your standard tap water faucet, the likelihood of your water being contaminated increases significantly. If your home or building was built before 1986, it was likely built with lead components. More than 80 million homes in the US were built with lead solder and brass components containing lead. There are more than 120 million homes in the US. These are just some of the startling facts and figures that demonstrate how prevalent lead still is in America’s water infrastructure. Many people only see the worst crises from afar, like in Flint, Michigan. But most are not aware that at an individual home level, there is a high likelihood that they too are chronically ingesting harmful metals.
